Overview
Many people suffer from some level of discomfort during or after their working day. It may only be temporary, but overtime it can lead to more chronic conditions such as RSI (repetitive strain injury) or CTS (carpel tunnel syndrome). We explored how we might be able to help prevent chronic conditions from developing by reducing common repetitive actions.

The Challenge
The main challenge was to design an experience that would be simple to use, but also allow easy customisation. Many of the common workflow actions such as 'Be Right Back' depend on which video conferencing service is preferred by the user. Zoom, Teams or Google Chat? We needed a flexible framework.
The Solution
We came to the conclusion that we could gather the most common actions and activities to create 'Smart Action' templates that were pre-populated and ready to use. All the user would have to do is decide which button or key would trigger the Smart Action. This helped to remove the barriers to entry as most of the hard work was already done.
The Result
A first for Logitech. Software is often bundled as part of a hardware purchase, Smart Actions was the first to break the mould at Logitech, being a free update available for all keyboards and mice supported in Options+. After a successful closed Beta test, we launched the Smart Actions feature to the public in Spring 2023. Smart Actions prevent repetitive clicks, cursor movement, window switching and scrolling, reducing strain on the body throughout the day. Available as part of the Logi Options+ application for PC and Mac.
